Measures for Cyber security

India on Tuesday unveiled broad measures for swift safeguard of  its digital landscape.

The measures include training 500,000 cyber security professionals within five years to staff a National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre, which will monitor traffic on communications networks and the Internet.

The number of cyber attacks in the country is growing rapidly, according to data from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, the country's pre-eminent digital watchdog agency. The agency is an arm of the IT ministry tasked with monitoring and tracing cyber security breaches.

India will also create a Cyber Crisis Management Plan to respond to major breaches of cyber security. The country also plans to strengthen and amend laws regulating the use of encryption technology and social media, the policy document showed.
