Panaji, March 3 (IANS) Poll officials Saturday suspended police inspector Francis Corte for allowing a busload of voters unchecked at a polling booth in Vasco at 9.45 a.m.

"He has been suspended pending enquiry," Joint Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) N.S. Navti said.

Poll officials are presently questioning the passengers in the mini bus, which was detained some distance from the polling station.

"We are trying to find out who had commissioned the bus and bunched together these voters," an official said.

On Friday, journalists from the assembly constituency of Vasco had complained in writing to the CEO that Corte had threatened them with arrest, after members of the public blocked a vehicle allegedly carrying money and media persons reached the spot to report the incident.
