Islamabad, March 10 (IANS) Pakistan is witnessing a rise in chronic kidney diseases due to late diagnosis and a rising trend of high blood pressure and diabetes.

Health experts reached this consensus at a seminar organised by the Shifa International Hospital (SIH) to mark "World Kidney Day", the Daily Times reported.

Saeed Akhtar, head of SIH kidney transplant department, said the best way to prevent kidney failure was early diagnosis of underlying disease and aggressive treatment.
