Beijing, March 2 (IANS) China will make funeral services more accessible to the poor by 2012 end, according to Vice Minister for Civil Affairs Dou Yupei.
The Chinese government has launched a policy to provide free funeral services or favourable conditions in terms of service fees for decedents and their family members belonging to country's low-income groups, Xinhua reported.
Till date, the policy has been carried out in the country's 14 province-level regions including Beijing and Tianjin.
The annual fiscal funds invested in this programme amounts to about 1.44 billion yuan (about $228 million).
