Islamabad, Feb 21 (IANS) Pakistan's Senate has passed a constitutional amendment bill, providing an independent Election Commission and a neutral interim government set-up to oversee polls, a media report said.

The Senate passed the 20th Constitutional Amendment Bill Monday with majority, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

The measure, which has already been approved by the National Assembly, will become part of the Constitution after it receives presidential assent.

Pakistan has a population of about 180 million, of whom an estimated 80 million are voters.
