New Delhi, Feb 5 (IANS) India's flamboyant cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who has been diagnosed with a malignant tumour in his lung has received support from all quarters.

Yuvraj is currently undergoing chemotherapy at the Cancer Research Institute in Boston.

India and former Kings XI Punjab teammate Shanthakumaran Sreesanth said that Yuvraj was a strong character and he expected him to come back strongly.

"I believe he will recover very soon. He is a fighter and will win this battle too. He is an elder brother too me and wish and hope he will regain his health and be back in the team soon," Sreesanth said on the side lines of a programme in Kolkata.

"We all should support him. He is a strong man and I hope he gets back strong," Sreesanth added.

India's tennis player Rohan Bopanna and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah too wished the left-hander a quick recovery.

"Wishing Yuvraj Singh a speedy recovery, all our prayers and good wishes are with him," tweeted Bopanna.

Omar Abdullah tweeted: "Here's wishing Yuvraj Singh a speedy & complete recovery. On a good day there are few cricketers more exciting than him."

Yuvraj was detected with the tumour in October but his family maintained that it was non-malignant. However, the cricketer's physiotherapist Jatin Chaudhary, said that the tumour was malignant but assured that it was "100 percent curable".

The elegant left-hander has played 37 Tests and 274 One-day Internationals. The 30-year-old was adjudged the man of the series in India's 2011 World Cup triumph.
